I have been serving families for 12 years. I have a passion for counseling adolescents up to adults that are struggling. Children and adults with ADHD often struggle to learn coping skills or self-regulation. Adults diagnosed with ADHD can also benefit from family or individual counseling. The symptoms a child or adult experiences with ADHD does not only effect the person with ADHD but the whole family. In counseling the child or adult skills are learned; such as children learn to calm themselves in different situations, be more self-aware and find words to go with their feelings. I am truly energized counseling parents of ADHD children. As a parent, you are often trying to find solutions to issues that families that struggling. Parents might find that their parenting style is not working. I am a Certified Positive Discipline Parent Educator. Positive Discipline is a parenting style that is about respect and connection. So many in our society are also dealing with grief and loss. When you have experienced a trauma, or loss it is key to take time to heal. I have training in EMDR which is the number one therapy for trauma. EMDR gets more results with healing trauma than any other therapy option.

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Texas and Colorado. I specialize in treating eating disorders, disordered eating, and challenges with body image. I also work with those struggling with anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I provide an environment in which clients feel safe and empowered to embark on their therapeutic journey. I believe it is important to start where the client is to facilitate lasting change. Therapy is a process to explore underlying meaning, behavioral patterns, and relationship dynamics in order to identify your most authentic and genuine self. I use several clinical approaches to meet the specific needs of each client. I integrate relational and psychodynamic approaches, along with other therapeutic modalities. I believe it is important to challenge diet culture influences and promote self-acceptance of every body type. I strive to build a collaborative relationship with my clients and provide them with a sense of hope. I understand the process of eating disorder recovery is not linear and can be challenging. However, early intervention and treatment can provide a context and framework for individuals to fully recover.

If you are experiencing difficulties in your life and ready to start exploring how to create a different path, therapy is a great place to start. I have experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. Trauma, big and small, can play a large role in how we view our world and how we react and interact in our daily lives. There are a lot of tools that can be helpful in creating a life that feels different and more manageable. EMDR therapy is one of the tools I use most often in my work and have found it helpful in addressing a variety of primary concerns. My approach is to meet clients where they are at and collaboratively identify treatment goals, whilst building a strong therapeutic relationship so that each person can be comfortable being authentic. My primary modality is EMDR therapy and I work from a person-centered and trauma-informed framework incorporating other interventions as appropriate. The therapeutic relationship is an essential foundation to start our work together. If you would like to see if we are a good fit please call for a phone consultation or email to set up a time.

Your past does not define you and I believe everyone deserves to heal. The people I work with usually come to therapy because they'd like something about themselves or their life to be different. Painful and overwhelming situations are usually a part of their past and/or present and these experiences tend to impact who they are and how they feel about themselves. Healing usually includes caring for wounds, learning lots, and doing things a little differently than before. People feel better about themselves - stronger, more secure, calmer, and more peaceful - as a result of therapy and healing work. I am a person-centered, trauma-focused, psychodynamic therapist, which is just a fancy way of saying that your experience is most important. I believe you are in charge of your healing journey, and I believe that you are all you need to be just as you are, right here and now. I rely on a handful of therapy models so long as it makes sense for your healing. Are you living as a version of you that was created to survive? Maybe you want to make sense of what has happened and feel better about who you are. I wonder if you feel stuck, want more control in your life, or struggle speaking your mind. Are you interested in discovering a version of you that is meant to thrive? Reach out and let's do this together.
